Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on one key situation that’s been going on at Chelsea recently.
Obviously Chelsea want to make sure that they can keep their very best players whenever they can, and making sure they are all on long contracts is a good way to keep their players secure.
EXCLUSIVE! When Cole Palmer is expected to return to the Chelsea squad – plans laid out!
There probably isn’t many Chelsea players who you can call indispensable, but there are certainly a handful of players at the club that I am sure the owners would not even pick up the phone to answer any enquiries for and players who are genuinely not for sale at any price.
We all know that midfielder Moises Caicedo would be one of them – there’s no way that Chelsea would listen to offers for him right now. But I guess there is always that fear in fans minds of a club like Real Madrid coming calling for him and what that would do to his head.
And Romano has an update on Caicedo’s situation and whether Chelsea will be handing him a new contract anytime soon.
Romano on Caicedo

Speaking on his latest set of updates on his YouTube channel, Romano said:
“Chelsea want to talk with Caicedo [for contract extension]. They want to reward him like they did with Palmer. But it’s not something they have to do in the next hours.
“Caicedo is very happy at the club, and this is the mutual feeling between Moises and Chelsea.”
Redknapp on Caicedo
Jamie Redknapp has also been full of praise for Caicedo this week after his display in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Tottenham at the weekend. The pundit called Caicedo the best of his type in world football.

Chelsea FC needs a another caceido . Mould Santos and essugo to caceido style of play .
Just Essugo or other loan or possible midfield buy.
Santos is I different profile, No matter he has all the skills for defensive midfield, his mental output is the same tone as Enzo Fernandez, Fâbregas, Lampard, Ballack, etc (other Central midfield players of our past).
He can develop himself (with skill/experience or defensive & offensive side of the game, with blueprints of past world class players of our team), in probably one of Chelsea greatest ever midfielders.
It’s up to him.
Good for both Chelsea board and Caicedo representatives to seat down and fathom on how to tie him down with new improved contract with better wages and also insert release clause of £220m(€258m) in his contract.
So you’re suggesting they tie his destiny to the club or what?
You know things change very fast in football these days?
Caicedo please, wait until you have two years left on your contract.
Nô, he won’t…
He is Chelsea through and through…
Jokes aside, believe me: when a player like Caicedo wants to play for Chelsea, it’s because it’s the only club they ever wanted to play for.
Joe Cole, Essien, Ivanovic, Matic, Anelka, Ballack, Mata, Malouda, Ramires, Meireles, and few other more…
They came to Chelsea because they wanted to play in Blue.
Chelsea is still the club that many younger players will choose because the love they grow up in childhood.
