Ornstein exclusive: Chelsea “trigger clause” and secure centre back for rest of season, with future unclear

Chelsea are making a rather unexpected transfer move, with David Ornstein reporting exclusively on a done deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have decided to recall Aaron Anselmino from Borussia Dortmund. The defender joined the club a year ago, and spent 6 months with the German club, playing well but picking up repeated injuries that limited his game time.

Ornstein say that Chelsea are “evaluating the centre back market” and “want the 20 year old back from Dortmund to consider their next steps.” They have the same option on Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr.

We’re not quite sure what this all means – it sounds like the chase of Jeremy Jacquet is over, and we want the Argentine back as a body in the squad for the second half of the season. There was no reason to bring him back other than that – he was playing, just wasn’t staying fit.

In fact, he was getting great reviews when he was on the pitch.

Potentially he could be loaned out domestically to free up a foreign loan slot, or maybe there’s something in the bigger picture here we’re missing.

There is also good news in there for Blues fans who like young academy player Josh Acheampong – his rumoured sale this month is seen “impossible.” That’s comforting. We would hate this recall to be precipitating that departure.

In other news…

Liam Rosenior praised Estevao Willian after tonight’s game, after the Brazilian played a brilliant game down the wing and scored the opening goal for his team. But the coach also wanted to make sure everyone got their due.

Chelsea were busy getting a nice 3-1 win, but off the pitch, there was a major transfer update from Fabrizio Romano on the subject of Jeremy Jacquet.

  1. The transfer of jacquet is a hype not true . This owner’s are bluffer’s with their directors . Second maresca fault , he should have given more playing time to young players to evolve in premier league system of playing . He loan up those two quality young players defender that he knows the owners and the board’s aren’t do his request of new CB due colwill or even colwill is not injure . looks what they’ve done to those qualities of players which they called bomb squad . Its a shame that the owners and the board’s and maresca has no respect to them . If they can only play regularly you never the outcome might turn up good for the club . This club ownership with the boards are messed . Wasteland landed in Stamford bridge . I want Chelsea FC winning the EPL and UCL not only competitive team but a true champions of the football sports .
