Chelsea have sacked head coach Enzo Maresca.
A statement on the club website pointed to the fact that:
“Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.”
However, the more telling line was what came next, explaining a little more about why the decision for a mid-season sacking was made:
“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the Club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.”
Chelsea pull the trigger on Maresca early

This goes against Chelsea’s ownership’s stated desire to have a stable managerial situation long term. We’ve heard time and again from those journalists best connected at the club that no hasty decisions would be made, and that Maresca would be in place at least until the end of the season when there would be a review.
It’s a sign of how badly wrong things behind the scenes that this has happened now. Those in charge must really feel that things are going to get a lot worse, very quickly. Last year the manager turned around a really bad spell, but he’s not been given the chance to do that here.
Replacements already being lined up as Chelsea look to move fast
Work will begin on finding a replacement immediately, with Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior an obvious front runner after his success with our sister club.
We will also likely see some of the same names mentioned that we did when Maresca got the job – Roberto de Zerbi and Franceso Farioli are going to be in the mix.

It was imminent!!! Good riddance!!!! Let’s look forward and try to get the next long term manager not some clown?????
He wasn’t a clown, but some of his team moves were for sure.
