Liam Rosenior’s embargoed pre-quotes from the game against Crystal Palace were all about Liam Delap.
The striker shows promise, but is struggling to score. His new manager knows him well though, and keeps backing him.
Rosenior backs “outstanding” Delap for success

“For Liam, he’s had a stop-start season in terms of injuries,” Rosenior said in quotes picked up on the club’s official website.
“You need to have a flow, especially as a nine, in terms of your timing, in terms of your positioning. I was delighted for him to score against Fulham. I know what an outstanding player he is.
“Not just here, I’ve heard many coaches and managers speak about the difficulty of playing against low-block defences. It’s hard for any striker to find space in those moments. I thought our performance was very good in terms of the dominance and control against Pafos.
“As I’ve said, I haven’t had much time with the group. We’re trying to do as many individual and unit meetings as possible, but there were a lot of good things that Liam did in the game in terms of his energy to press and his positioning. We just need to keep improving and analyse just to improve what we’re doing.”
We reckon he will start today – despite his struggles, he just offers more than Joao Pedro does at the moment. Today would be a great day to get another goal.
In other news…
Trevoh Chalobah will start against his old club Crystal Palace today, and an article has pointed out how “absurd” Chelsea’s decision to loan him out last season looks in hindsight.
Ahead of the game today, John Terry was speaking about his old team and what he wanted to see from them under new coach Liam Rosenior as the manager gets more and more time on the training ground with the group.
