Rosenior tells journalists when he will make decision over three injured starters

Liam Rosenior wow-ed the world with his well spoken first Chelsea presser. Well, now he’s into his second week things are calming down a bit.

As always, the initial focus was on team news for the upcoming game. Rosenior said there were no new issues from Saturday’s game, and also spoke about a couple of key first team players who missed that match entirely.

“Moises Caicedo is suspended,” the coach reminded journalists.

“We’ve had no injury problems coming out of Charlton. I will make a decision on Cole [Palmer], Malo [Gusto] and Reece [James] tomorrow or on the morning of Wednesday.”

Those three all apparently have minor issues after featuring against Fulham last Wednesday. We’ve got really had more details than that – Gusto was the one one who appeared to be really hurting post-game.

Chelsea likely to be close to full strength despite vague knocks to key men

As we said when Rosenior spoke about these injuries on Friday ahead of the Charlton game, we’re pretty confident that they won’t be a major problem. James and Palmer have had a week off and will be desperate to play. Unless these knocks are much more severe than Rosenior is letting on, we suspect the new coach is just keeping his opposition in the dark for the fun of it.

In other news…

Rosenior’s breakthrough was at Derby, initially as an assistant under Wayne Rooney then taking over from the England legend. One of his players from that time has spoke about his boss’ quality and how well suited he is to take over the Chelsea job.

Chelsea’s wingers were put into a new role last night, and they weren’t able to improve their delivery into the box. They completed 0 crosses between them.
