Report: Chelsea player suffers injury setback and will miss next six weeks

Emmanuel Emegha has suffered an injury setback and could miss the next six weeks according to reports in France.

Chelsea agreed a deal with Strasborug to sign Emegha last year, and the Dutch international has penned a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Emegha will join up with Chelsea at the end of the season, and is expected to go straight into the squad and compete for minutes with Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

The Emegha transfer reportedly caused issues according to Strasbourg president Marc Keller, and the fans weren’t happy with the striker.

Emegha scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and has seven goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this season.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played since picking up a muscle injury in December, and it’s thought he was close to a return.

However, L’Equipe have reported Emegha has suffered a setback and is likely to miss the next six weeks in a big blow to him and Strasbourg.

The Dutchman is the club captain, and a really important player for Strasbourg, but it’s important he takes his time before returning to minimise the chance of ay further setbacks.

Emegha has also had off field issues and was suspended for comments he made about Strasbourg in an interview, and Chelsea will hope his discipline improves before he arrives.

Mamadou Sarr set for Chelsea return

Emegha isn’t the only Strasbourg player joining Chelsea, and Sarr, who joined the club last summer is expected to return before the end of the window.

Rosenior wanted Sarr back as the Blues look to bring in another centre back, and it appears that will happen, as Aaron Anselmino has joined Strasbourg on loan for the remainder of the season.

Sarr is well known by Rosenior having worked with the 41-year-old for 18 months in France, and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the team over the second half of the campaign.

  1. He pick Sarr because he knows him well but he should have given Anselmino a chance . Anselmino much more adaptable in EPL than Sarr . The physical and fast pace of the league will give Sarr a bit problem compared to Anselmino . Lique 1 is much on open play compared to bundasliga . And Anselmino plays in champion league . The problem is coming from the owner’s and the board’s . They’re attitude aren’t good for the moral of the club . They might’ve millions and billions but I believe very soon all those wealth will be evaporate . I love Chelsea FC but the management is questionable .

    1. I disagree, Anselmino is very injury prone and has played limited games for BVD , whereas Sarr is strong and physical and can adapt to the rigours of the PL given time . He was very impressive in the African Cup of Nations
