It’s half time in the Chelsea – Everton game, and things are looking very gloomy for the Blues. They’re 1-0 down, and it could be a lot worse.
A number of Chelsea defenders and their goalkeeper have made mistakes early on, and they were eventually punished by Beto. He had acres of space to run into, after James Garner had hours on the ball to pick a pass.
Chelsea goal conceded means horrible defensive record continues
Conceding means that it’s now FIFTEEN games since we kept a clean sheet. And that was against Pafos back in January. We’ve conceded 29 goals since then, with 45 minutes still left in this game to concede more.
It’s not good enough – the goalkeeper is terrible, there are a whole group of central defenders who don’t reach the required level, a knackered midfield who don’t do their job, and confused pressing from the front men.
Players, manager, sporting directors, owners. It feels like nothing is close to reaching even the minimum acceptable standard right now. Not being able to keep a clean sheet in 15 tries would be an embarrassment for a team with a fraction of our budget.
