Chelsea have just been battered 3-0 by PSG at home, another reminder of how far off the top clubs they are at the moment.
With Stamford Bridge electric on a misty Tuesday, anything felt possible, even at 5-2 down on aggregate. That feeling didn’t last long. Within 5 minutes a long punt forward saw Mamadou Sarr lose his first one on one battle all game with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and let the away team score an easy goal which took the life out of the stadium.
After a few promising Chelsea attacks, another dagger. Bradley Barcola struck for the second week in a row after some sloppy play from the Blues. The game was well over by that point, and the stadium emptied steadily. Eventually Liam Rosenior surrendered the game entirely by taking off three of his key players after an hour.
PSG had no mercy, emptying the stadium with a third goal. Things then got worse the only way that they could – Trevoh Chalobah was stretchered off with a serious looking injury.

Analysis
This was a disaster from the first minute. The decision to play a sort of wonky back 3, with Mamadou Sarr on the right, was immediately shown to be a bad one. A long kick from the PSG goalkeeper caught him out with no protection, in acres of space, up against one of the best wingers in the world.
Yes the defender didn’t deal with the high ball well, but the blame also has to be on the manager for leaving his vulnerable defender on an island like that, and also on those building this team for creating a situation where a recently turned 20 year old is starting his first Champions League game against PSG in the knockouts.
