Matt Law was on a tear on the London is Blue podcast this week, giving some very satisfyingly strong opinions on where Chelsea are going wrong.
One thing he couldn’t believe was the subs against PSG after an hour last week. With the Blues so far behind in the tie that it wasn’t realistic they could get back into it, Liam Rosenior withdrew his key attackers.
The logic was to rest them for the Everton game at the weekend – which Chelsea ultimately lost 3-0. Law says the damage to morale caused by giving up on a game cost the team more than an extra 30 minutes in their legs.
Rosenior’s “massive rookie error” costs Chelsea
“It’s a massive rookie error [by Rosenior],” the Daily Telegraph’s Chelsea man said.
“The subs signalled he had given up on that match and was thinking about the next. Because look what you can do, if you can fight back to 2-2 or even 2-1 and make it a game, it would still change the momentum and the feeling going into the next game.
“What actually happened was that actually everyone gave up and thought ‘this is gone’… I was stunned that I could watch a Chelsea team just give up on a match. Never seen it before.”

Law also had some thoughts about Trevoh Chalobah’s loss, and some insight into when the defender could be back.
Moises Caicedo is not playing at his best right now, and there are good reasons for that.

The problem against PSG look at the bench of PSG compared to Chelsea FC . The starting 11 of CFc are good enough to win games but mistakes makes them lost the game . Second most of the players are not interested to the coach . 3rd no world class CBs weak leader and 4th no strong striker . Palmer been man mark shadowed from 1st to 2nd leg , rosenior should have adjusted the tactics . He should play Palmer in the wing because midfield been congested and should play Delap upfront and jao no’s 10 . I hope this summer CFc transfer should get two world class CBs one from FA and then buy one . Get LW and Striker and GK should be world class . Make the squad solid . A profitable club is winning the premier league and UCL . Look at man city system they dominated premier league because they not depending in youth set up but mix it with world class matured player’s . No problem in buying young talents but it has to be ready for EPL . It has ready to compete . I hope the entire boards of CFc change the system and support the head coach and not interfering how to select players and how to play them . Rosenior is young and lot things to learn .it’s too early for him to manage this group of players some are egoistic . I believe in this groups of players but still lacking . All they need is focus and play collectively from defence to offence . The remaining game’s are hard but they can do it …. God bless CFc …
