Moises Caicedo famously almost signed for Liverpool before Chelsea grabbed him. Things haven’t all gone to plan since then, but the Ecuador star has just agreed a new contract, and speaking to TNT Sport this week he claimed he’s convinced things can turn around fast at Stamford Bridge.
Caicedo believes he and Chelsea can turn things around
“[I signed] because I believe that in this thing we can do a lot of things together,” Caicedo explained.
“So [that] made me sign a new contract here. I am convinced that we are not in a very good moment, but I am convinced we are going to come back and we are going to put [ourselves back] where Chelsea belong.”
“I am so convinced. I’m not going to change, because, for sure, the only way to do that is believing. And that’s it.”
We wish we were as “convinced” as you, Moises… although repeating that word three times does give the impression he’s trying to “convince” himself he actually believes what he’s saying.
In other news…
We think Liam Delap is almost certain to start tomorrow – although there are certainly more popular options among fans.
Calum McFarlane admitted that, with options limited, he may have to turn to the Chelsea academy for players to sit on the bench tomorrow.

My goodness. Could we stop being down in the mouth and cynical long enough just to appreciate that one of our best players is committed to the badge (unlike a certain sometimes captain!). Caicedo is EXACTLY the type of player — both in terms of his work rate and character — that we want to build around and, especially in a tough moment like this, we ought to be appreciating and commending his attitude instead of making light of it. Further fueling a toxic environment around the club with completely unnecessary jabs like this don’t help anyone.
