Porto will struggle to pay £15m for Chelsea squad player – unless Diogo Costa is sold

Fillip Jorgensen has a number of teams interested in him – but it’s hard to see where Chelsea make a deal given how much he cost them.

Various sources yesterday confirmed that Chelsea backup goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has asked the club to leave.

In fact, Ben Jacobs’ piece for GiveMeSport says that Jorgensen asked back in January, and was told to wait until the summer. Now, according to Jacobs there are a number of teams interested, including Portuguese Champions Porto.

Porto and other teams will struggle to pay for Jorgensen

Of course Porto already have a very good goalkeeper in Diogo Costa. He would have to be leaving for Jorgensen to be coming in. Porto are going to be hard pressed to pay the £15m (minimum) Chelsea would want for the stopper – they’re certainly not going to pay that for a backup.

Chelsea paid more than £20m for the 24 year old, which always seemed an insane fee for a player who was not that highly rated. Two years later, they might only need to sell him for £15m or so to break even, but even that looks a stretch given his poor form.

In other news…

Chelsea star Alejandro Garnacho will not be going to the World Cup with Argentina this summer, another sign of his serious regression.

Enzo continues to be linked with moves away from Chelsea, and at least one Premier League rival is now keen on the Argentine.
