Courtois skipped training – and the apology that followed

After Belgium’s run to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Courtois simply failed to show up for Chelsea pre-season training. His agent Christophe Henrotay was open about the reason: the Belgian was anxious that his move to Real Madrid – a switch he was pursuing to be closer to his children who lived in the Spanish capital – might fall through.

Courtois apologised for the absence, and Henrotay confirmed to the BBC that the apology had been accepted by the club.
