Chelsea asking price for winger has to be over £60m claims pundit

The London is Blue podcast last night checked out the impending Noni Madueke to Arsenal move, and it’s fair to say they don’t love it.

Madueke move looks under-priced considering his ceiling

“He was our most productive winger last year. He’s a guy that has grown, season over season. Obviously a lot of refinement to do as a player, but he’s playing off the left to accommodate Pedro Neto being a lot more comfortable on the right,” presenter Nick Verlaney said.

“Maybe that was a signal to him that he wasn’t gonna be first choice heading into the season. [But] he’s not going to find playing time over Bukayo Saka on the right at Arsenal.”

Overall, it’s fair to say they’re not delighted with the move, at this price.

Elanga move sets base rate for potential Madueke transfer

They also discussed the potential fee for Madueke, which is rumoured to be around £50m. They pointed out that it simply has to be more for it to be a deal worth doing for Chelsea:

“Anthony Elanga is going to Newcastle for £60m. Noni Madueke is a better player than Anthony Elanga right now. I have zero doubts about this. So you’re potentially going to sell him for less than what I think the real market rate is, which is whatever Anthony Elanga goes for… and then you’re going to sell him to a direct rival.”

After the podcast came out, the news broke that Elanga would be moving to Newcastle for £55m, so their estimates aren’t far off. We agree that a Madueke move has to come in at £60m or more to be worth considering – although that could include some bonuses.

  1. Madueke is a talented young man and I like him too but we still have to look into the imminent arrival of Estevao Willian who might play on the right and probably a kudus move could potentially materialize seeing him as a palmer back up I guess
Actually, he’s worth more than £50m to be honest

  2. The potential transfer of Madueke to Arsenal has all the potential hallmarks of yet another mistake, one where we look back and think why the hell did we do that.
The price of 50 million is one under what is worth a matter Y key is performing better year on year and has done ever since year arrived from PSV I understand transfers are inevitable but I think this one would be wrong and his cost should be far closer to 60,000,000.
