Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has increased the tension at the top of the league by claiming Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side are “not special at all”.
Despite the London club holding a 7-point lead over Manchester City at the summit, Samir Nasri has hit out at their style of play and over-reliance on Diego Costa.
He also believes that his side will catch Chelsea, who he says are certain to slip up at some point before the famous trophy is handed to the winners.
Speaking about the title race and the league leaders, the Frenchman said:
I’m a big fan of Mourinho but I am not impressed with his team, not at all.
“We have played them twice, one time with 10 men, and we were better than them,” he claimed.
“Then we played them at the Bridge, and we were better than them.”

The 27 year old also suggested that Chelsea wouldn’t be where they are without top scorer Diego Costa.
The indications of over-reliance come despite Costa scoring 31% of his side’s league goals this term; identical to the percentage of City’s league goals that Sergio Aguero has scored.
Nevertheless, Nasri critisised Chelsea’s dependence on the controversial Diego Costa:
I don’t think they are that fantastic – they are just strong and have a good striker up front.
“For me they are not special at all, and I think they are going to make some mistakes. We just have to perform, to win our games, and see what’s going to happen”, Nasri added.
Whether Nasri believes his comments or whether it is just a ploy to put pressure on Chelsea, who are currently 7 points ahead of City with 10 games to go, it won’t change how Mourinho reacts to them.
A ‘siege mentality’ has been building around Stamford Bridge ever since Diego Costa’s questionable three game ban and such remarks by a rival player are surely only going to help rank up the determination to succeed inside the Chelsea dressing room.

Will Nasri’s comments backfire and give Chelsea a final boost to the league title?Â
