Chelsea’s summer clearout is generating serious money – and if Garnacho and Chalobah follow Cucurella, Santos and George out the door, Alonso will have over £200m of outgoing fees to work with.

Football London have reported that Chelsea are closing in on a combined transfer windfall of over £200m this summer, with the Blues already banking £126m from the sales of Marc Cucurella (£51.7m), Tyrique George (£24m) and Andrey Santos (£50m). Two further departures – Alejandro Garnacho and Trevoh Chalobah – could push that total to £203.5m if Chelsea hold firm on their asking prices.

Garnacho out – Chelsea want £42.5m and a permanent deal only
Chelsea’s position on Garnacho is clear: permanent transfer only, no loans, £42.5m. Football London report that AS Roma are interested but have been pushing for a loan arrangement, which the Blues won’t entertain. There is also interest from clubs in England and Saudi Arabia, so options exist – it’s just a matter of whether anyone meets the asking price on Chelsea’s terms.
Frankly, this feels like the right call. A loan would solve nothing – we’d be right back in the same position in twelve months with a player who didn’t nail down a starting spot in his debut season. Alonso has already made clear in his unveiling presser that Garnacho’s future lies elsewhere, stopping just short of saying it outright: “There is interest from him, from other clubs, so let’s see how it develops.” That’s as close to a goodbye as it gets without the handshake and the club statement.
Chalobah heading for Serie A – Como lead the race but Chelsea want £35m
Trevoh Chalobah is the second deal in play. Football London understand Chelsea have already knocked back two offers from Como for the 27-year-old, who has spent the best part of two decades at the club and is now keen on a move to Serie A. The Blues are only listening at £30m–35m, and at least two other clubs are also monitoring his situation.

Como are in front right now, but they’ll need to sharpen their bid considerably to get this over the line. Chelsea deserve credit for holding firm rather than taking a cut-price exit just to move Chalobah on – the fee matters, particularly given how much the overall transfer picture depends on maximising every outgoing. Between these two deals and what’s already banked, Alonso has real money to shape his squad.
