Game Week 1 Premier League Round Up

The Premier League is back and here’s the round up of Game Week 1, minus Chelsea’s result as The Blues play on Monday night.

It was wins around for last seasons top 4 with Arsenal and Liverpool both winning 2-1 against Crystal Palace and Southampton respectively, while Man City kept a clean sheet winning 2-0 against Newcastle.

Man Utd 1-2 Swansea City

Man United got off to a bad start under the LVG reign losing at home to Swansea City 2-1. With the away team getting off the mark with a superbly worked goal by Ki for Rooney to equalise with an overhead kick from close range. The win was rounded up by a familiar face in the Swansea shirt in the form of Sigurdsson to make it 2-1.

West Ham 0-1 Spurs

Tottenham won 0-1 in a fiery London derby away against West Ham United that saw both teams go down to 10 men. The goal came in extra time courtesy of a goal from debutant Eric Dier. A centre back who has real promise to wear the 3 lions shirt in the near future.

Leicester 2-2 Everton

Everton had a tough away draw against new boys Leicester City. The newly promoted champions proved why they swept the Championship by storm last season. With their never giving up attitude, they pulled back twice to draw 2-2 with McGeady giving Everton the lead, new boy Ulloa drew Leicester back. Naismith put the Everton 2-1 up before Woods drew the hosts level yet again.

QPR 0-1 Hull City

Our local rivals QPR got off to a bad start with last seasons FA semi finalists Hull City coming away from Loftus road with a 1-0 win coming from an unlikely source of Chester who out strengthed Ferdinand to header in from a corner. Charlie Austin missed a penalty for the hosts.

Stoke City 0-1 Aston Villa

With a lot of new faces in both their teams, Aston Villa won 0-1 at the tough Britannia Stadium, home to Stoke City. In a game that needed a goal, Weimann crept up just after HT which proved enough for the Birmingham based team.

West Brom 2-2 Sunderland

Finally, in the game that had the most goals, West Brom drew 2-2 at home to Sunderland. The hosts got off to a bad start falling behind in the first 5mins thanks to a brilliant strike by Cattermole. Berahino dug deep to get 2 goals to bring the host in front before Larsson scored 5mins from time to secure a well earned draw.

Chelsea need to win by 3 clear goals away to Burnley to top the BPL on Monday night.
