Eden Hazard hoping his teammate lacks confidence in this weekend’s big game

Eden Hazard has spoken in glowing terms about his international teammate Kevin De Bruyne – although like most Chelsea supporters around the globe, Hazard is hoping that the City player has an off day this weekend.

“He’s a top player,” Hazard is quoted as saying by Goal.

“Sometimes you don’t get the chance to play… but now he’s full of confidence. I hope next week he’ll have less confidence!”

Hazard won’t be the only one hoping that his international buddy has an off day. Former Chelsea player De Bruyne has been inspirational for City since arriving last summer, and the Belgian outshone Hazard for the entirety of last season. Eden has turned the tables back this term, but this weekend will be as much of an individual clash between the two attackers as it is a title deciding game between table topping teams.

De Bruyne is a dangerous player – his super accurate long shot in particular. But with a back three that has looked watertight in recent months, Hazard can have some confidence in his teammates to keep Chelsea in the game. Then it will be down to him at the other end to make the difference and earn the Blues a win that would be hugely significant in the title race.
