Graeme Souness is a divisive pundit to say the least. While generally fairly grumpy and negative, he provides a nice balance to the shallow enthusiasm of the Jamie Redknapp-type characters that are often sitting opposite him.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s massive game against Manchester City, the former Liverpool man weighed in on Sky Sports, as quoted in the Daily Star. He wasn’t exactly forthcoming with a prediction – but he has come down on the side of the Blues in the end.
“I think it will be a very tight game,” the former Liverpool manager said.
“It would not be impossible for Chelsea to go there and do a number on them.”
It’s certainly a relief to hear it’s not impossible – it would have been a terrible waste of time and effort getting the game underway if we didn’t have chance of winning. But the fact that even Souness is reluctant to stick his neck out more than the minumum possible distance will tell you all you need to know about just how tight this weekend’s clash will be.
