Chelsea given boost as Sunderland set to miss key man

Chelsea will have an excellent chance to continue their superb run with a game against struggling Sunderland on Wednesday.

The start of the rapid-fire December fixtures comes this week, with Chelsea travelling to the Stadium of Light to take on the recently resurgent Black Cats, who had been in great form until their loss to Swansea on Saturday.

It’s not a fixture that should cause Chelsea too many problems anyway, and the events of Saturday have made it look even more of a soft fixture.

Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong got his fifth yellow card against the Swans, meaning he will be forced to sit out the game with a suspension.

Chelsea will now have an even easier task in controlling the middle of the pitch.

Antonio Conte’s main concern will be striker Diego Costa, who also finds himself on four yellow cards. The striker will have to make it to the end of this month before records are wiped, a feat that may prove difficult for the feisty Brazilian.
