“Thankfully it was Azpi” – Lampard reacts to Azpilicueta taking him out in training

Chelsea are preparing for a massive night in the Champions League knockout stages as they welcome Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to Stamford Bridge for the Round of 16 first leg.

The German side will be hunting for revenge after becoming victims of Chelsea’s biggest night in their existence in 2012 when they beat them in Munich to win the same prestigious trophy.

Frank Lampard and his Chelsea players have been training hard in the rain today and took part in an open training session.

Footage soon emerged online of full back Cesar Azpilicueta sliding in on Frank Lampard during a rondo session that the boss often gets involved in, taking him to the ground!

They were all smiles afterwards, luckily for the Chelsea captain!

Lampard has been asked about the incident in his press conference this evening, and he jokingly says that it was lucky that it was Azpilicueta that did it and not a player in and out the line up!

As reported by Football London, Lampard said:

“Thankfully it was Azpi and not a player in and out of the team. It’s how Azpi naturally is.”
