Chelsea star insists the squad are behind Mauricio Pochettino and want him to stay

Benoit Badiashile has insisted the Chelsea squad are behind Mauricio Pocehttino as they aim to secure a top six finish.

Following a heavy defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, the Blues have taken seven points from a possible nine against Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham.

The late season resurgence has seen Chelsea move into seventh place, two points behind Newcastle in sixth with just three games remaining, and within touching distance of that final Europa League spot.

Badiashile insists the squad trust Pochettino

It’s been another largely difficult season for Chelsea, which hasn’t been helped by the club’s injury crisis, but ultimately over large parts of the campaign the Blues simply haven’t been good enough.

Costly draws against Burnley and Sheffield United, despite being ahead in both games could come back to haunt Chelsea in the race for Europe.

One thing that has changed at the club is there appears to be a real sense of togetherness amongst the squad, with everyone pulling in the same direction.

Badiashile is starting to find his form after a difficult season.

Pochettino deserves credit for that and it’s clear the players like him as they are always full of praise for the Argentine whenever asked about him.

After the West Ham game Badiashile was asked if the squad wanted Pochettino to stay, and was emphatic with his answer making it clear they trust him.

“Of course, of course, the team is behind him”, the Frenchman told The Evening Standard.

“The coach has made us confident with this setup, it is helping us a lot, and we have to continue like this.

“I think you can see it from this game, we played a great game and we trust him.”

Pochettino is set to sit down with the club’s hierarchy at the end of the season, which represents the half way point of the two year deal he signed last summer to discuss his future.

It feels more and more likely given the options available Pochettino will remain in charge next season which would give the club some much needed stability.

However the final three games will play a huge part in that, but as is always the case with Chelsea be prepared for the unexpected because almost anything could happen.
