22-year-old Chelsea ace expresses delight at scoring “amazing” first goal for the club

Moises Caicedo has expressed his delight at scoring his first Chelsea goal and insisted he’s happy he joined the club.

Caicedo arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer from Brighton for a British record £115m, and he initially struggled having missed the majority of pre season due to his drawn out transfer.

However, the Ecuador International has really found his feet and has been superb for the Blues since the turn of the year, very much proving the doubters wrong with some brilliant performances.

Caicedo delighted to score first Chelsea goal

The 22-year-old saved the best until last as he scored a goal of the season contender to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth.

It was one of those you had to see to believe as Caicedo collected the ball following a rushed clearance from Cherries goalkeeper Neto, and lofted his strike into the back of the net from the half way line to send the Stamford Bridge crowd wild.

Caicedo will probably never score another goal like that in his career, and the Ecuadorian isn’t known for his scoring prowess, but he couldn’t hide his delight at getting his first goal for the Blues.

Caicedo may not score a better goal in his career than he did against Bournemouth.

“It was an amazing goal”, Caicedo told Chelsea’s website.

“I had the possibility to shoot and I did, it’s amazing and thanks to God for giving me the opportunity to score that amazing goal in the last game.

“I didn’t want to look for my teammates, I just wanted to try.

“It was a good season for us to get Europe and I’m happy to achieve this and for sure we will achieve next season as well.”

The former Brighton man is now looking forward to next season and insisted it’s “really good” to be at Chelsea.

“It is good to be here and join Chelsea, one of the best teams in the world.

“It was amazing and I’m sure next season will be really good.”

It feels like Caicedo is only just getting started and Chelsea fans can expect to see much more from him next season, and hopefully that partnership with Enzo Fernandez will develop into something special.
