Blues offer contract to 26-year-old Premier League star in attempt to beat Newcastle to his signature

Chelsea have offered a contract to Tosin Adarabioyo in an attempt to beat Newcastle to his signature according to reports.

The Blues are closing in on the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their next manager, with confirmation expected by the end of the week, but that seemingly hasn’t stopped the club from pressing ahead with their plans for the summer window.

It’s expected to be another busy summer at Stamford Bridge with reports suggesting Chelsea will look to sign a striker, centre back, left back and possibly a goalkeeper.

Chelsea offer contract to Adarabioyo

Adarabioyo will become a free agent when his Fulham contract expires next month, and is believed to be close to an agreement with the Magpies.

The Manchester City academy product has also been linked to Manchester United, but Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has now reported Chelsea have offered the 26-year-old a contract in an attempt to beat Newcastle to his signature.

He took to X and said:

“#ChelseaFC have made a contract offer for Tosin. #CFC have stepped up interest to try and beat #Newcastle, who remain in talks.”

Chelsea are in the market for a new centre back following Thiago Silva’s departure, with the club also expected to sell Trevoh Chalobah, and the Blues are believed to value the 24-year-old at around £25m.

Adarabioyo joined Fulham from City in 2020 and has since gone on to make 132 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring five goals.

The Blues aren’t afraid to splash the cash, but picking up Adarabioyo on a free transfer would represent smart business, and allow more money to be spent on other areas of the squad, as well as helping boost the club’s home grown quota.

Adarabioyo was at the City academy with current Chelsea players Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia, whilst Joe Shields and incoming new manager Maresca were also there, so perhaps you can see why Chelsea have decided to make a move.
