Chelsea have reportedly held talks with the representatives of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, in an attempt to find out the potential cost of a deal.
The Blues are no doubt set to be busy in the summer window, with plenty of comings and goings at Stamford Bridge as they look to bridge the gap to the top of the Premier League.
It’s been reported that Chelsea’s main priorities will be a centre forward, a left back, and a centre back following the departure of Thiago Silva at the end of the season.
Chelsea open talks with Sudakov’s representatives?
One area supporters wouldn’t have down to strengthen is midfield where the club have a plethora of options available, and the only way another midfielder may come in is if Conor Gallagher ends up leaving the club.
However, according to Mail Sport the Blues have held talks with the representatives of Ukrainian talent Sudakov in recent weeks to ascertain what it might cost to do a deal.
Sudakov who is a playmaker, has scored nine goals in 33 appearances this season, and is the next big talent to come out of Shakhtar.
Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin recently attended the 6-0 win over Everton at Stamford Bridge where he claimed he was asked a lot about the 21-year-old.
According to the report Sudakov has joked that his close friend and international team-mate Mkyhailo Mudryk misses him in London.
Mail Sport add that Sudakov is in regular contact with Mudryk who often advises him about making a move to England.
One major stumbling block to any move is the release clause of around £125m in Sudakov’s contract, which is active in June.
The midfielder is currently under contract with the Ukrainian giants until 2028, but it’s believed Shakhtar will consider sensible offers for their star man.
I’m not sure spending a lot of money on another young midfielder is what the Blues should be doing this summer, but learn to expect the unexpected with Chelsea in the transfer window.
