Cole Palmer’s first words after winning Chelsea POTS, plus who he voted for

Cole Palmer was named Chelsea Men’s Player of the Season as well as Men’s Players’ Player of the Season last night at the end of season awards at Stamford Bridge.

It was probably the easiest POTS awards to ever predict at Chelsea, with the attacking midfielder running away with it all and really, had no competition.

EXCLUSIVE! Strong chance Pochettino now stays, Benjamin Sesko could arrive at CFC this summer, Victor Osimhen swap-deal unlikely, Tosin Adarabioyo contract demands, Much more…

Palmer has become the Chelsea talisman this season and has been the guy to provide the goals, assists, overall quality, main attacking threat, and basically everything good we have done in midfield and attacking areas this season.

He was obviously going to win both awards and if he didn’t, there would have been something wrong!

Palmer also had to vote mind, and he obviously couldn’t pick himself! And according to the man himself, he chose right back Malo Gusto as his Player’s POTS, which is actually also a very good shout.

“It’s been a dream debut season for me,” Palmer said at the awards. “Thank you to the manager, staff, players and, of course, the fans. I just came to play to showcase my abilities and talent to the fans. It’s gone amazing, probably better than I’d imagined. Buzzing!”

And on who he voted for, Palmer said: “I voted for Malo Gusto. I love playing with him on the right. He’s been amazing this season when he’s played as well.”

The pair have had a very good link up on the right and Gusto’s overlapping runs allows Palmer to really operate in those inside spaces where he is most dangerous cutting in on his left foot.

Palmer has been the shining light this season for Chelsea in a season that has had many ups and downs, doom and gloom, and not enough consistency. Let’s hope next season we will have much stronger competitors for these awards!
