Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea on Tuesday evening following an end of season review with the club’s hierarchy.
Pochettino departs Stamford Bridge after just one season at the club, following an up and down campaign which saw the Blues have a strong second half of the season and finish with five wins in a row to secure a top six finish.
Whilst the Argentine was far from perfect, he appeared to be turning things round, and had created a real togetherness amongst the young inexperienced squad, who had clearly taken a huge liking to him.
“Amazing relationship”
The squad are reportedly unhappy with the decision to dismiss the 52-year-old with many players taking to social media to thank the former Tottenham manager, with some expressing their disbelief at the decision.
Captain Reece James was the latest to pay tribute to Pochettino in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
James expressed his thanks for everything Pochettino had done for him, as well as expressing regret he didn’t play more under the Argentine due to injuries.
It appears it could take time for the playing squad to come to terms with his departure, and the sporting directors simply have no choice but to get the next appointment right.
