(Image) – “I’ll forever be grateful”- Chelsea captain praises departing legend

Chelsea finished an up and down season on a high beating Bournemouth to secure a top six finish and a return to European competition.

The Blues overcame a difficult first half of the season to have a strong second half, and only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have taken more points in 2024.

Ending the campaign with five wins on the bounce provides real reason for positivity heading into a really important next season.

Unfortunately Thiago Silva won’t be part of that as he was given an emotional send off by the club and it’s supporters on his last game in Blue.

Silva has made such an impact at Chelsea, embracing everything it means to play for the Blues, and has established a brilliant bond with both players and supporters.

Tributes have been rushing in for the Brazilian and James has taken to Instagram to thank the 39-year-old for everything, saying he’s helped him more than any other player in his career.

Silva will be sorely missed both on and off the pitch, and the likes of James are really going to have to step up into key leadership roles in his absence next season.
