It’s been another difficult season for Chelsea who have endured various struggles under Mauricio Pocehttino, but with three games remaining the club can still secure a top six finish.
There’s a number of reasons as to why the Blues have struggled this season which include poor management from Pochettino at times, too many inexperienced players and a lack of leadership, but by far the biggest has been injuries.
The Blues have suffered more than any other team in the top flight this season, and had as many as 14 players missing for the recent game against Tottenham.
Pochettino has been unable to call on Wesley Fofana for the entire season, whilst club captain Reece James has been limited to just nine appearances, with summer signing Romeo Lavia managing just 30 minutes of action.
Christopher Nkunku has also been unavailable for large parts of his debut campaign, and this is only scratching the surface of the injury problems at Stamford Bridge this season.
Data collected from Transfermarkt shows Chelsea have had a league high 54 injuries with a league high total of 309 games missed.
This has to be sorted over the summer as the club simply can’t afford for this to happen next season.
