The Chelsea player wanted by teams from Eredivisie and Bundesliga after superb breakout season

Perhaps because he arrived for free, or perhaps because he spent a year in the academy before going on loan, or perhaps simply because he’s English and didn’t come from Brazil. For whatever reason, Omari Hutchinson has not had nearly as much hype around him as other Chelsea youngsters.

But after a great season on loan with Ipswich, that’s starting to change.

Now he’s got Fabrizio Romano Tweeting about his future, something that confirms his status as a young player people care about.

Romano’s column for Caughtoffside sees him speculate about where the young winger could end up next season having helped Ipswich to an unlikely Premier League promotion during this campaign.

“Omari Hutchinson, for instance, will be an interesting one to follow after his fine form on loan at Ipswich Town. There will be a meeting between Omari’s camp and Chelsea to discuss his future,” Romano wrote.

“There are clubs in Eredivisie, Bundesliga and Premier League keen on signing him on loan. Another loan solution for next season is the most likely, as I’m hearing that Chelsea want him to play on regular basis, while Ipswich also hope to keep him.”

The best move can be not to move at all

To us, staying at Ipswich is clearly the best option. There he’s already put in the work to earn the manager’s trust, and he’s guaranteed playing time. We don’t know how they will do next season, and they could struggle quite badly given they were in League 1 just a year ago, but as long as he’s playing and learning it doesn’t matter so much if they’re at the bottom of the table.

The temptation will be to send him to one of the bigger teams who are interested, but as we’ve seen with so many of the loans this season, that doesn’t always work out.
