One of the reasons stated for why Enzo Maresca is being touted as a good choice for the Chelsea squad is that he “knows” Cole Palmer and has managed him before.
That was for the Man City youth team. It does produce some interesting video footage as we start to imagine how Palmer might operate this season.
Under Pochettino he was used off the right or down the middle depending on where the team needed him, showing good performances in both spots at times.
It’s funny to see that clip of Palmer greeting Maresca while he did media duties ahead of the FA Cup tie between the ties last season included too. Who then would have thought that just a few months later the young manager (who grinned with pride from the way the wonderkid had made such a gesture) would be in charge of Chelsea.
