Kieran Trippier highlighted Cole Palmer as the player that has impressed him in England training, describing him as a “top quality player.”
Palmer was named as part of Gareth Southgate’s provisional 33 man squad for the Euros, and is currently preparing for two friendlies this week.
England take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday night and face Iceland on Friday, with Palmer expected to add to his two England caps.
Trippier impressed by Palmer
Palmer’s record breaking season following his move from Manchester City last summer has seen him become an England international, and be named Premier League Young Player of the Year after scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists.
The 22-year-old has received praise from far and wide for his record breaking season, and is now preparing for what he hopes will be a summer of success, as England look to end their 58-year wait for a trophy.
The England squad have spent the last few days preparing for their Euro 2024 warm up matches, and will no doubt be one of the favourites for the tournament in Germany this summer.
Trippier, who has 46 England caps is set to captain his country on Monday night, has trained and played with some quality players over the years, but highlighted Palmer as someone who has really impressed.
“It’s the first time I’ve trained with Cole, he’s really surprised me, a top quality player,” Trippier told talkSPORT.
“It’s just how he finds the pockets [of space].
“His awareness for where other people are and how clever he is for such a young age.
“It’s the first time I’ve trained with him this week, I am really happy that I’ve trained with him, he’s been quality.”
Given his form last season Palmer is almost a certainty to make the cut for the final 26 man squad, and could have a key role to play for Gareth Southgate’s side, something he could have only dreamed of at the start of the season.
