Conor Gallagher has revealed what Cole Palmer has told him about new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca with the 22-year-old having worked with the Italian at Manchester City.
Chelsea announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca last month with the 44-year-old leaving Leicester City after just one season to take up the reigns at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca, a former assistant to Pep Guardiola guided the Foxes to the Championship title last season in his only full season of senior management experience.
Gallagher reveals what Palmer told him about Maresca
Whilst Maresca clearly lacks experience he is well regarded within the game, and plays the style of football Chelsea are looking to implement.
For the majority of the squad it will be a learning experience given they are likely to know very little about the Italian, but there are some who are well acquanted with him.
Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia know him from their time in the City academy whilst new signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall knows him very well having worked with him at Leicester last season.
Gallagher, who is currently with the England squad at Euro 2024 has revealed that Palmer has filled him in on the new manager and only had positive things to say.
“Cole’s only told me good things,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s really excited about the new manager and so am I.
“He’s obviously had a great season at Leicester last season.
“Me and everyone at Chelsea are really excited to work with him.”
Gallagher will be hoping he’s still at the club to play under Maresca given there are major question marks hanging over his future as he only has one year left on his contract.
There certainly seems to be an excitement amongst Chelsea’s players at working under Maresca and the club feel they have got the right man for the job.
Pre-season training officially begins on Monday and the Blues head off on their tour of America later this month to really step up preparations for the new season.
