Chelsea squad put through double session on day one of pre-season under new boss

Chelsea’s first day of pre-season training under Enzo Maresca involved a double session which included medical and fitness tests according to journalist Kieran Gill.

Players not on international duty returned for the first day of pre-season training on Monday as preparations officially began for the new season.

Maresca was seen barking orders and putting his new charges through their paces with a host of new signings and previously injured stars all pictured taking part.

The first day of pre-season training always feels the like the unofficial start to the new season and bar the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer who are still on international duty, the Italian pretty much had a full squad at his disposal.

Captain Reece James was seen taking part and he will hope his injury issues of last season are behind him whilst it was great to see Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia back with the pair missing the entirety of the last campaign through injury.

New signings Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were seen being put through their paces on what seemed like an intense day, whilst Mykhailo Mudryk was also seen as he cut short his break after Euro 2024.

In fact Daily Mail journalist Gill reported that day one involved a double session which included medical and fitness tests.

The Blues jet off to America later this month for their pre-season tour where they will face Wrexham, Club America, Celtic, Manchester City and Real Madrid in preparation for the new season, whilst a further friendly against Italian champions Inter Milan has been scheduled for August 11th at Stamford Bridge.

This season is really important for the Blues as the club can’t afford to go a third consecutive season without Champions League football, and it’s vital they hit the ground running and get off to a good start.
