Raheem Sterling has emerged as a shock target for Juventus as they look to sign a new winger before the window closes according to reports in Italy.
Sterling hasn’t lived up to expectations following his £50m move from Manchester City in 2022 and his wages are believed to be in excess of £300,000.
In an ideal world Chelsea would likely be happy to get Sterling’s wages off their books, but potential suitors for the 29-year-old are few and far between.
Juventus interested in Sterling
Chelsea have agreed a deal worth an initial £51.4m with Wolves to sign winger Pedro Neto and the Portugal international is set to undergo his medical this weekend ahead of completing his move.
The arrival of the 24-year-old could see the England international drop further down the pecking order and competition for places in the wide areas is fierce.
Sterling will now be competing with Neto, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, whilst both Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer can operate on the wings.
The former City man reportedly turned down an approach from Saudia Arabia last summer and is thought be happy with life in London.
However, Italian outlet Di Marzio have reported that Juventus have Sterling among their options as they look to sing a new winger.
The report adds that Juventus are reportedly gathering information to understand the conditions of a potential deal and how possible it could be.
Di Marzio state that the Italian giants are eyeing a loan deal and they’e also interested in Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho and Porto’s Francisco Conceicao.
Sterling scored eight goals and provided four assists in 31 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season, but turned in a number of disappointing performances and was booed at times by the Chelsea supporters.
Were a serious offer to come in it would be interesting to see what the Blues would do, but a loan offer would likely mean the Blues would have to cover a portion of Sterling wages, whilst it’s unclear if the winger would even consider leaving the club.
For God’s sake Chelsea should never sell Raheem Sterling. Those who are critical watchers of our game know Raheem Sterling is critical player for us. Fast, win balls, and manoeuvres his way through difficult defences. I mean people should just count the number of fouls and penalties he has won for us. His only problem is selfish play in the final third. A good coach can turn him into a great asset. Thanks for space.
