“A real threat” – Legend of English football thinks Chelsea are going places

Chelsea’s confident win over West Ham at the weekend was made up of some good performances, and Alan Shearer picked two players and the manager in his team of the week.

Moises Caicedo is having a good season, and this game was his best performance yet. Even as Enzo Fernandez struggles at times, Caicedo is starting to produce on a really consistent basis. In this game he was great both in attack and defence, and Shearer was full of praise for the Ecuador star:

“He’s now finding his best form, marshalling the midfield brilliantly and showing great vision for his assist for Jackson.”

Caicedo’s assist came after a sweet passage of play which saw the Blues knocking it around first time, before the midfielder spotted Jackson’s well timed run and slid him in.

It was great play from the midfielder, but also from the forward.

As the top scorer in Premier League history, Alan Shearer knows a thing or two about being a number 9 in the English top flight, so his words on Jackson were very flattering:

“A thrilling display from Chelsea’s centre-forward. He scored with two excellent finishes and displayed his all-round ability with a nice assist.”

Chelsea need to keep up improvements long term

Both of those two players are going to be key for us this season, and keeping them in form and putting them in the right system is the job of the manager, who also impressed Shearer:

“He seems to be getting the best from the wealth of talent at his disposal. Chelsea are emerging as a real threat,” the former Newcastle striker wrote

The first part is certainly true – as for being a real threat, well we don’t want to jump the gun. It’s great to have some recognition for our performances, but we want to see this improvement sustained before we get too excited.
