After failing to agree a summer move away Ben Chilwell was all smiles as he was pictured back in Chelsea first team training on Monday.
It’s been a difficult summer for the 27-year-old who was told in no uncertain terms he wasn’t part of the plans moving forward and needed to find another club.
However, that proved more difficult than perhaps the Blues expected, perhaps in part to his injury record and reported £200,000 per week wages.
There appeared to be very few suitors for Chilwell although recent reports have credited Crystal Palace and Ipswich with interest in him.
Chilwell was facing the prospect of playing no football until January, but it appears there might be opportunities for him between now and the winter window.
The left back was named in Chelsea’s 25 man Premier League squad and was pictured back in first team training at Cobham on Monday after apparently reaching a truce with Enzo Maresca according to Mail Sport journalist Kieran Gill.
Chilwell could see his first minutes of the season as soon as next Tuesday when Barrow visit Stamford Bridge in third round of the Carabao Cup.
It’s clear this is only a temporary solution and it’s unlikely anything has changed in regards to Chilwell’s long term future at the club, but this makes a lot more sense than him being frozen out until January.
