Galatasaray are interested in signing midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka before the Turkish window closes on Friday according to reports.
Chukwuemeka arrived at Chelsea from Aston Villa in deal worth £20m in 2022, but he’s been plagued by injury issues during his time at the club.
The 20-year-old has been limited to just 27 appearances across two seasons and is yet to appear for the Blues in this campaign.
Galatasaray interested in Chukwuemeka
Having had the summer off it appeared Chuwkuemeka had returned refreshed and ready to make an impact under Enzo Maresca.
It seemed the midfielder would be part of the Italian’s plans this season after he started the first two games of the tour of America.
Things haven’t exactly gone to plan since then and Chuwkuemeka hasn’t featured for the Blues since the game against Celtic.
His lack of action has led to speculation over his future and it was reported earlier this summer the former Villa man had a release clause of £40m in his contract.
With competition for places at Chelsea fierce the ideal situation for Chukwuemeka would be a loan move, with the clock ticking to get any sort of permanent deal done that would satisfy both the club’s and player’s demands.
However, TEAMtalk have reported that Turkish giants Galatasaray are interested in making a move for the midfielder before Friday’s deadline in Turkey, but they face a major battle to persuade Chuwkuemeka to swap the Premier League for Turkey.
Galatasaray have expressed interest in a host of Premier League midfielders including Scott McTominay who joined Napoli, Casemiro and Jorginho.
If an acceptable offer came in then it’s likely Chelsea would consider it but at this late stage the chances of that happening appear slim.
Chukwuemeka was handed a potential boost that there could be a way back after he was named in Chelsea’s squad for the league phase of the Europa Conference League.
Ultimately he needs minutes to develop as a player but the fact he’s not been banished to train with the development squad indicates Chelsea haven’t fully given up on him.
