It’s been an exciting first half at the Vitality Stadium, but it’s not all gone Chelsea’s way.
The Blues have just almost given away a cheap goal to Bournemouth.
Wesley Fofana has had a good start to the season, but this error was more similar to what we saw on the USA tour. The Frenchman underhit a backpass to Robert Sanchez, who was left high and dry. The goalkeeper faced off with Evanilson and took him out.
But the Spaniard stepped up and saved the same player’s penalty, sparing Fofana’s blushes.
But it didn’t end there – soon after, with the ball being played timidly around Chelsea’s box by defenders, Fofana put Sanchez in a bit of trouble again, and the keeper took a poor kick straight to an opposition player.
We have no confidence when the ball is being played like that in our own box – and that mainly radiates from the lack of confidence that Sanchez exudes.
Axel Disasi looks shaky on the right, Marc Cucurella is not having a good time on the left – and there’s no midfield ahead to shield them. Levi Colwill’s quality deserts him as often as it turns up.

Chelsea defensively poor – with little scope to improve
There really aren’t took many solutions to this. Benoit Badiashile looks even worse than the current selection when he’s played. Reece James and Malo Gusto can at least offer more attacking threat than Disasi when they’re in the side. The return of Romeo Lavia looks desperately needed – but how can we find ourselves counting on a player who’s managed about 3 games in a year? In goal, Sanchez’s alternate is Filip Jorgensen, who hasn’t looked much better.
Enzo Maresca is going to have to do what he said he would do in his interviews earlier today. Coach individuals and make them better.
