Former Blue William Gallas has revealed what he feels Cole Palmer needs to do in order to repeat his feats from last season.
Palmer lit up the Premier League following his deadline day move from Manchester City last summer and scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in his first full season of playing regular football.
His form saw him named Premier League Young Player of the Year and he was rewarded with a place in the England for Euro 2024, in which he made an impact during the knockout rounds, including scoring the equaliser in the final against Spain.
Gallas details what Palmer must do to repeat form of last season
The big question facing Palmer is can he get close to or even better his performances this season as a lot of players have put together very good seasons, but only the very best can back it up.
If the start of the new campaign is anything to go by then the 22-year-old seems more than up to the challenge and already has one goal and four assists in the opening three Premier League games.
Gallas, who is no stranger to success at Stamford Bridge has revealed what he feels Palmer needs to do this season in order to stay at that level.
“What Palmer did last season with Chelsea was just incredible,” he told Prime Casino.
“I want to see him do it again. We’ve seen a lot of players have one season at the top level. The most difficult challenge for players is to stay in that level.
“To do it takes unbelievable commitment, huge sacrifices. You must live your life like a monk. You must be happy knowing that you’re going to have three weeks in the year to switch off, and then you have to work even harder than the year before.
“It’s not easy to do that. Not many players have the mental resources to deliver that kind of commitment.”
Despite all the attacking quality the Blues have at their disposal it still feels like they will be looking to Palmer to make things happen starting with Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.
