Enzo Maresca details “the next step” for Blues man who is “such a special player”

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has been detailing the next step that one very special Chelsea player needs to take to kick on.

The Blues manager has been speaking ahead of today’s match against Manchester United in the Premier League. The Chelsea website has put some fresh quotes out in the early hours of this morning as we build up to the game later this afternoon.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea pick main candidate for new full back transfer pursuit!

Cole Palmer will naturally be one of the first names on the Chelsea team sheet today, being the Blues talisman that he has become.

The former Manchester City player has been incredible since he arrived at the club, and he has often been carrying the weight of this team on his shoulders.

But being the star man, or the main danger man if you like, comes as a cost. Palmer has seen teams target him and man mark him lately, which is something of a new challenge for the young star.

Palmer will be key again today

‘I said in the last press conference that the next step for Cole is to not allow himself to get frustrated when teams look to mark him man to man,’ Maresca explained ahead of today’s clash in Palmer’s hometown of Manchester.

‘If it happens, he should see it as a compliment because all the best players in the world are marked man to man.

‘If you think about when he arrived at Chelsea last season, he probably wasn’t as well known as he is now so maybe teams were not so worried about him at that stage.

‘This year, for sure teams are worried about Cole because of what he did last season and now he has to get used to being marked man to man.

‘This is the next step for him, know that it will be more difficult and dealing with these situations. I have no doubt he will be able to do this because he’s such a special player.’
