“That guy is a masterpiece” – Frank Leboeuf names Chelsea ace he’s in awe of following Leicester win

Former Blue Frank Leboeuf has described Moises Caicedo as a “masterpiece” and believes the midfielder is now justifying his £100m price tag.

Caicedo once again started in midfield as the Blues ran out 2-1 winners against Leicester thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez on Enzo Maresca’s return to the King Power Stadium.

The result meant Chelsea stay third but they closed the gap on second placed Manchester City to just a point following their defeat to Tottenham.

Caicedo initially struggled following his £115m British record transfer from Brighton in the summer of 2023, but started to find his feet over the second part of last season.

However, this season under Maresca he’s gone to another level and is showing the level of form he showed at Brighton.

The Ecuador international has started every league game this season and has put in some exceptional performances, and tops four separate Premier League stats this season.

Despite having travelled to South America and only returning 48 hours before the game as well as becoming a father for the first time Caicedo put in another impressive performance.

He’s arguably the best midfielder in the league right now, even though Maresca stopped short of saying so himself.

Against the Foxes the Ecuadorian put in another impressive performance and Leboeuf described him as a “masterpiece.”

“We have to talk about Caicedo,” he told ESPN as cited on X.com.

“That guy is a masterpiece right now. For 90 minutes today [against Leicester], and it was the case last week and the week before.

“Since the beginning of the season, he’s not the same guy. he’s now the guy who’s worth one hundred million. And that makes a huge difference.”

Caicedo is arguably Chelsea’s most important player and perhaps the player the Blues would find the hardest to replace, so they will be hoping he stays fit for as much of the season as possible.

The 23-year-old will more than likely have Thursday night off against Heidenheim before returning to the side for a huge game against Aston Villa on Sunday.
