Levi Colwill hails the quality in Chelsea’s squad and praises “amazing player” following Man United draw

Levi Colwill hailed Moises Caicedo as an “amazing player” following Chelsea’s draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Blues missed the chance to go third, but it could have been worse had Caicedo not scored a brilliant volley to rescue a point.

The result meant Chelsea climb into the top four, but they still haven’t won at Old Trafford since 2013 and it’s hard to imagine many better opportunities coming their way.

Caicedo has been in superb form and has arguably been the best midfielder in the league this season ,although Maresca stopped short of saying that when asked the question.

The Ecuador international has started every Premier League game for the Blues and has recently found himself playing alongside Romeo Lavia, which Jamie Redknapp believes brings the best out of him.

Now that he’s performing well his price tag isn’t being mentioned at all, and whilst he’s not known for his goal scoring, the two goals he’s scored for the club have been spectacular.

Speaking after the game Colwill admitted he wasn’t surprised that Caicedo pulled out a moment of quality when the Blues needed it, and described his team-mate as amazing.

“Moi is an amazing player and we’ve got so many of them that, when you’re struggling in a game or when you’re not scoring, they pull out that magic,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

“We’ve been behind already this season and we know you’ve got to react fast. We know we’re a good team, we believe we’re going to create more chances to score no matter the time in the game and that happened yesterday.”

Chelsea will hope Caicedo can continue his form and stay fit for the whole season, with the 22-year-old a vital part of Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Both Caicedo and Colwill will more than likely be given the night off on Thursday as Chelsea host Noah in the Conference League, before Arsenal come to Stamford Bridge on Sunday for a big London Derby.
