“I’m confident” – Peter Crouch makes his prediction for Chelsea vs Arsenal

Former Premier League striker Peter Crouch has backed Chelsea to beat Arsenal in the London derby at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues head into the game level on points with the Gunners, but ahead on goal difference after the first ten games of the season.

Chelsea’s recent record against their rivals isn’t good and they only have one win in their last nine meetings with Arsenal, something they will be desperate to rectify.

Despite their good start to the season under Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are still looking for a statement win having failed to beat Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United this season.

The Blues are sweating on the fitness of Cole Palmer, although the 22-year-old did share an update to his social media on Friday.

If Palmer isn’t available it will be a big blow for Chelsea, and one of Christopher Nkunku or Joao Felix will likely come into the number ten position, with Joe Cole recently saying he believes the Portugal international can score 25 goals a season if he upgrades one part of his game.

Chelsea are looking for a statement win against Arsenal on Sunday.

The Gunners themselves aren’t in good form and have only taken one point from their last three games and it feels like it could be a good time to play Mikel Arteta’s side.

Chelsea could move into the top three with a win depending on Nottingham Forest’s result, whilst a defeat would see them drop out of the top four heading into the international break.

A win for Chelsea would be huge and Crouch has backed the Blues to get the job done and said he feels confident.

“I’m confident,” he told That Peter Crouch Podcast.

“I fancy Chelsea to win this. It’s a big call because Arsenal, in recent history, have been a much better side than Chelsea. I don’t think Arsenal will fall away by any stretch, I just feel like this is the kind of game where Chelsea have nothing to lose really.

“That’s why I feel like players like Cole Palmer can get on the ball and make them tick. I feel like Chelsea win this 2-1.”

Chelsea supporters will be hoping Crouch is right and a win would certainly send the fans and the players into the international break feeling very happy.
