Gary Neville has claimed the pressure shouldn’t be on Enzo Maresca following Chelsea’s defeat to Brighton in the Premier League.
The Blues slumped to a 3-0 defeat on Friday night thanks to a brilliant goal from Karou Mitoma and a brace from Yankuba Minteh.
Chelsea have now won just two of their last nine league games, but remain fourth although they will drop down the table if results go against them over the weekend.
Neville states pressure shouldn’t be on Maresca
It was another terrible performance from the Blues as they went down with a whimper on the south coast in an all to familiar showing.
Chelsea’s expensively assembled young squad was bereft of ideas and in truth it was a very straight forward evening for Brighton.
With the season unravelling quickly Maresca will be coming under more pressure, although he’s insisted the club have told him he doesn’t need to qualify for the Champions League this season.
The away end was virtually empty come full time with many fans fed up of what they were seeing, and the players had to be told by Willy Caballero to go and applaud the fans.
With the amount of money invested fans are expecting more than they are currently getting, and whilst the blame ultimately always lands at the manager’s door, Neville feels more scrutiny should be placed on those above.
“The pressure should be on the people who are recruiting the players, to leave out of a billion pound to leave positions like centre forward and goalkeeper is unforgivable,” he told Sky Sports as cited on X.com.
“The pressure should not be on the coach at all.”
Neville absolutely has a point and despite the vast investment there are so many holes in the squad, but it’s up to Maresca to find solutions with the players he currently has at his disposal.
Champions League qualification is looking increasingly difficult and Jamie Carragher has warned Cole Palmer will want to leave unless the Blues start competing for major trophies.
The worst of Chelsea was what I saw yesterday
Yeah The Pressure Shouldn’t Be On Him Because He Also Say One This His Team Lack Mentality Of Play A 1:0 Look The Chelsea Of Old In Days Are Unbeatable But Chelsea Of Now Are Stupid What I Have Is Only Two Things And I Wish Enzo Maresca See It And Work With It 1 In Their Next Premier League Meeting Against Aston Villa He Should Use A 3 4 3 Formation Because Almost All Chelsea 1 Eleven Are All Injury
goalkeeper:jorgensen
Defenders:James,Colwill,Chalobah Or Tosin
Midfielders:Sancho,Mathis Or Enzo,Caicedo,Cucurella
Strikers:Neto,Nkunku,Palmer And The Second Thing Is When A Match Come I Will Like Asks Palmer I Need Two Goals From Him This Match And I Need Like 1 Crucial Save From Jorgensen,And A Clean Sheet And I Need 1 Assist From Both Neto And Sancho And I Need 5 Take And 90 Percent Pass Accurate Pass From Caicedo And I Need You Guys To Win 5:0 Or More That Is How A Coach Is Pls Do I What I Have Said
What fldelis said is nothing but the truth. Chelsea of then are more trustworthy than nowadays. When are going to watch Chelsea’s premier League without heartbreaking. Infact I’m completely disappointed with both the coach, players and the club owners that is not considering his fans heartbreaking. Instead he is only thinking of his gain and so on
