“Does not have the tools” – Lightweight Chelsea man already on his way back to London claims Italian source

The Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy are taking a deep dive on the wreckage of AC Milan’s season, and they’ve picked out one culprit for close analysis – Joao Felix.

Their writer Marco Pasotto has written a summary of the attackers month in Milan since making his loan move from Chelsea.

“He simply does not have the tools to make the difference,” Pasotto writes, and that’s just the start of where Chelsea fans will be able to relate to his thoughts.

He points out that “in the context of a team that works, he would be the added value, the player who tickles the palate and offers a show.”

But like Chelsea, Milan are not the finished article, so Felix doesn’t offer anything. So far, so familiar for Blues fans. Pasotto say that Felix can’t be considered a “flop” for the simple reason that expectations were so low.

He also makes the excellent point, however, that if he were a “phenomenon”, he wouldn’t have been able to leave Stamford Bridge mid-season, after 6 months spent mainly on the bench.

Things started so well in Serie A for Felix, with a debut goal and early talk of how a permanent deal could be done. The gloss didn’t take long to come off the Portuguese in West London, and it’s taken even less time in Lombardy. “More smoke than substance” is one rating of his performance quoted in this piece.

To summarise, the piece concludes that “Joao’s plane ticket from London to Milan will not be a one-way ticket.”

That’s brutal news for Blues fans who want the attacker moved on, but sadly something we’ve already seen coming after his bright start faded away.

  1. Let’s face it. Felix is a poor man’s Mesut Ozil. The latter was amazing on his day, but was largely a passenger out of possession and by the latter stages of his career was prone to more sulking than sizzling. Felix similarly possesses the ability to wow when he turns on the flare, but the absence of consistency and commitment out of possession make him a luxury that clubs like Milan, Chelsea, and even Atletico can’t afford. It’s a shame too many have fallen for his flare over the years and no one has delivered the kid a hard message that talent is wasted without the right mentality.

  2. Felix was only bought in by Chelsea so Gallagher’s deal went through,
Felix failed the 1st time at Chelsea when on loan , nothing but failure was expected once again
