Emmanuel Petit reveals his concerns about “fighter” linked with Chelsea move

Emmanuel Petit has shared his concerns about Napoli striker Victor Osimhen were the Blues to reignite their interest.

Chelsea spent the majority of last summer pursuing the Nigerian, but were unable to agree a deal and he joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on a season long loan.

The Blues weren’t prepared to pay Osimhen the salary he wanted despite being in prolonged negotiations with the 26-year-old.

Petit shares Osimhen concerns

Osimhen has impressed at Galatasaray where he’s scored 26 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions, and he’s believed to be a Chelsea fan.

The Nigeria international is thought to have a release clause of around £63m which makes him affordable for a number of Europe’s top clubs.

Osimhen’s salary demands could make a potential deal difficult, and it’s unclear if Chelsea still remain interested, with the Blues said to be leading the race for Liam Delap, whilst Benjamin Sesko is also thought to be of interest.

John Obi Mikel has stated a deal would be easy to get done were the Blues to pick up their interest again in the summer, but they would likely face competition from a host of Europe’s top clubs.

Osimhen’s profile would suit Chelsea and he’s a proven goalscorer who Nicolas Jackson could greatly benefit from.

However, Petit has shared some concerns about Osimhen’s personality and character were the Blues to push ahead with a deal.

“My concerns with Victor Osimhen would be with his personality and character, it can be a great thing for the team if it fits in, but it can also be difficult in other teams,” he told YaySweepstakes as cited on X.com.

“We all know his qualities and what he can bring to the team, he can score goals and bring character, he reminds me of Diego Costa in that sense, he is a fighter.”

Whatever happens this summer the Blues have got to get themselves a top quality striker and there are few better than Osimhen on the market.

  1. To me it’s better for Chelsea FC to find a better world class manager . Why it’s show with maresca system can’t win any trophies . With this squad Chelsea FC should be fighting and winning more games . Man city and arsenal are big club and they’re not in a good form and Chelsea FC still can’t beat them . That’s show this manager of Chelsea is waste of money . If this owners and boards want success they have shown it on the pitch by winning prestigious tournament and multiple of trophies to be lifted the way Roman did . look at Nottingham Forest even Bournemouth they are ambitious club that they goal is to win and qualify for UCL . And look at to their squad compared to CFc . Shame you hire a wrong manager to manage this team . And now competing on CWC with this manager and no world class CB and world class Striker and dodgy GK , good luck . CFc will miss UCL again and no trophy to be lift up . I don’t see this team will win conference league with this kind of manager and of course the owners desire of how to make this club to be champion on the pitch . Look how Newcastle happy moment every single supporter enjoying it . How long can CFc fan and supporters will witness the glory days for the club back with this owners . Hope you design this club to Real Madrid passion of winning mentality . Winning every season on the pitch . Desire of winning every tournament and show to the football world dominations . Hope the owner you have that desire why you bought this club to be number one . Replace your current manager his philosophy regarding how play football is not right . He destroyed the confidence and the quality of the players from the squad . Do you think he will makes those coming player’s this new season successful for the club . I doubt it I have a feeling he will destroy Santos skill and quality for the club . Please those two boards of directors stop interfering how to make this team manage and to coach . We want this club to win not to be humiliated .

  2. I agree, with the Managers style of play there’s no attack philosophy but he wants the team to keep the ball and play back passes from the final 3rd instead of attacking which makes it difficult to score goals. Without scoring goals we can’t win games.
