“I think they’re” – Kieran McKenna makes bold Chelsea claim ahead of Stamford Bridge clash

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has claimed Chelsea will be one of the best teams in the Premier League for many years to come.

The Blues host the Tractor Boys at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with the three points vital to both sides for different reasons.

Chelsea need the points to keep their hopes of Champions League qualification on track, whilst Ipswich need the win if they are to have any chance of beating the drop.

The Blues lost the reverse fixture at Portman Road 2-0 with McKenna praising the job Maresca had done in the build-up to that game.

Chelsea have endured a mixed season, but still find themselves fourth currently and remain on track to win the Conference League.

Enzo Maresca’s expensively assembled squad have struggled for consistency this season, but showed earlier in the campaign how good they can be.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game McKenna, who was linked with the Chelsea job last summer believes the Blues are going to be one of the best teams in the Premier League for years to come.

“They’re certainly one of the best teams in the division and I think they’re going to be one of the best teams in the division for years to come,” he said as cited on X.com.
“With the squad that they’ve built, I think they’re going to stay in the top echelons for a long time.”
Chelsea fans are unlikely to agree with McKenna’s comments and right now it feels like the club are still a long way from competing for and winning major honours.
The summer window is critical for Chelsea and the business they do is likely to shape the direction the club go in over the next few years.
It feels like the Blues are on the cusp of building something special, but getting their business wrong in the summer could really set the club back.
