Chelsea want Liam Delap to play in the Club World Cup instead of the European under-21 Championships according to The Telegraph.
The Blues reached an agreement with Ipswich for the 22-year-old on Thursday and Delap is expected to undergo his medical on Monday ahead of a £30m switch to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea beat off fierce competition from Manchester United to land Delap and Enzo Maresca will be delighted to get his first summer signing.
Chelsea want Delap to chose Club World Cup over England
Chelsea head off to the United States next month for the Club World Cup with their first match set to take place on June 16th.
The Blues will want Delap to be part of the squad for the competition, but they have a problem as he’s part of the England squad for the European under-21 Championships which runs from the 11th-28th of June.

This mean Delap would join up with Chelsea late for the competition, but The Telegraph have reported the Blues are going to ask him to put club before country.
The report states Delap is desperate to play for England but sources at Chelsea are expecting for the club to ask for him to be released in another potential club vs country row.
Chelsea are expecting Maresca to go on a deep run in the competition, and the Blues will want their best squad available which includes Delap.
Jackson linked with move away
With a deal for Delap agreed, Chelsea now have two strikers and could look to add another with Marc Guiu linked with a loan move to Ipswich.
Chelsea have been linked with Hugo Ekitike but Frankfurt are said to want €100m for the 22-year-old who scored 22 goals this season.
However, Jackson has been linked with a shock move to Manchester United, and it remains to be seen if the Blues will look to cash in on the 23-year-old.

Even if Jackson leave our club, we need good finishing strikers and after Delap we need another striker not Jackson
If We sell Jackson, to Man U for £60m, then I’m OK with that, if We buy an ACTUAL striker!
Jackson’s work rate is high; if he didn’t get injured, we would have taken premier league trophy. He should stay!
Jackson is our number one striker. His injury cost us premier league trophy.
Delap will flourish with current Chelsea play makers…Delap did better compared to Jackson..Compare Ipswich and Chelsea supply lines.
To me Delap is better than Jackson.
That’s what we did to sala , D. Kelvin , Lukaku
and some great players, now look at them doing great jobs all over, to me N. Jackson should stay as a second striker or for sub.
Jackson will go now and will be doing so great out there, at the end it will be a great lost to the club.
Ajen Ruben was Chelsea player then but because of injuries Chelsea sold him, he went to Bayern M doing great job there, but if Chelsea can get a real top goal machine then Jackson can leave the club .
Jackson is a good striker, but injuries are the problem to his side. But let delap come plus victor osimhen.
