Former Chelsea captain John Terry has been explaining what he believes Chelsea need to take the next step in their development.
The big news comes after Chelsea finally secured their qualification to play Champions League football next season on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

The Blues had to win this game to secure it, and they managed a 1-0 away win against Nottingham Forest to provide scenes of celebrations amongst the Blues players and staff yesterday evening. And in by doing this, Chelsea also set a brand new record in football!
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was so pleased with making the Champions League that he took the opportunity to swear at all of his critics across the season by telling them all to F off!!
Terry says Chelsea are years off
The Blues legend believes that current Chelsea are two years off challenging for the Premier League title and as well as that, they currently invite the press too much.
Terry has voiced his concerns in some comments made this week ahead of the Conference League final build up tonight.
Blues need experience
The former England centre back also says what he believes Chelsea need to take the next step.
Terry was asked about the Liam Delap links, and replied:
“I think Nico [Jackson] has been really good, firstly. When I watch him play, he’s only one of a handful of strikers in the league that plays on the shoulder. As a defender, that’s a nightmare it opens up space. I like Nico.
“If you are looking at the next step, you need someone proven and who has scored goals in the Premier League.
“Usually that’s an experienced player but the owners are clear, they don’t want to bring in someone of 29, 30 years of age on big money. It’s a different model. I personally feel we need that.
“Securing Champions League football is big for us, getting those players in with experience and some back up if Cole [Palmer] does drop off slightly to take responsibility away from him. Three or four big players in and we’ll be better for it.”
