OFFICIAL: Chelsea announce £55m deal for one-on-one monster who could replace outgoing winger

Chelsea have just announced the signing of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund on their official website.

The winger has signed a deal until 2032, with most reports in recent days claiming that the transfer fee is around £55m. This looked a done deal more than a week ago, but things have moved pretty slowly since then. In fact, we basically went through the entire process of signing Joao Pedro in the time since this was called a done deal by the likes of Fabrizio Romano.

We saw Gittens on the pitch last night after Chelsea beat Palmeiras, and Enzo Maresca even spoke about him as a Blues player in his post match press conference, so this announcement was a formality as much as anything.

The young Englishman is another player that knows many of our staff members and playing staff from his time in the Man City academy. He’s a superb one on one operator, and while he’s still a little rough around the edges, is without doubt full of potential to be a real menace.

Having played for Dortmund at the Club World Cup, he was never going to be able to play for the Blues. Maresca has confirmed he will spend a couple of days with the squad and then go on holiday.

Madueke another step closer to exit after Gittens confirmed

This deal, along with the move for Joao Pedro, certainly makes Noni Madueke’s exit seem more likely. The winger is being heavily linked to Arsenal right now, with Fabrizio Romano this afternoon reporting that personal terms were agreed between the winger and the Gunners.

It looks like he will go, and we already have his replacement on board.
